Searchland

A SaaS platform with 20+ features needed a site that could grow as fast as the product.

Built three years ago. The team injects content every week. Nothing breaks, the site only ranks higher.

The brief behind the build.

Searchland serves five distinct buyer segments: land and new homes agents, developers and land sourcers, planners and architects, energy providers, and commercial real estate operators. Each segment has different pain points, different workflows, and different features they care about. A single homepage that tried to speak to all of them would speak to none of them.

The site also needed to function as the primary organic acquisition channel. That meant a blog and guides library that could grow to hundreds of posts without structural changes. Feature pages that ranked individually for their specific search queries. Success stories that linked to the relevant segment pages. The architecture had to make all of that possible, without the team ever needing to think about structure when they published.

How we built it.

Explore the main parts of the build.

Full homepage with audience switcher: five buyer types, one page

A tab system switching between five buyer segments, each revealing different pain points, relevant features, and a linked success story. Smooth cross-fade with content entering from the direction of the selected tab.

20+ feature pages: CMS-driven, individually SEO'd, scalable

Each of the 20+ features has its own dedicated page with hero, feature breakdown, screenshot, related use cases, and a CTA. All built from one template, all managed in the CMS.

Blog, guides, and webinars library: filterable, indexed, compounding

Three content types in one filterable library. Each piece of content individually indexed by Google and linked to relevant feature pages via CMS reference fields.

Success stories with video testimonials: linked to segments and features

Customer success stories with embedded video testimonials, outcome metrics, and automatic cross-links to the relevant buyer segment and features used.

Micro-interactions throughout: hover reveals, sticky navigation, video modals

Feature card hover reveals, sticky sidebar navigation with IntersectionObserver active state, video testimonial modal with correct focus trapping and scroll position restoration.

The decisions behind the website.

The details that shaped the finished build.

  1. 01

    CMS architecture

Six interconnected collections with reference fields: features, use cases, blog, guides, success stories, and client logos all linked. A blog post tagged with a feature automatically links to that feature page. The internal link graph builds itself.

  2. 02

    Feature pages

One template, 20+ pages: all bespoke in content. Adding a new feature takes under an hour. The team fills in the fields, the layout handles everything else automatically.

  3. 03

    Status badges

Popular · Updated · New: one CMS field, three locations. When Searchland marks a feature, it propagates to the mega-menu, the listing page, and the feature page simultaneously.

  4. 04

    Navigation

Mega-menu with animated category grouping. Features grouped by workflow: Find opportunities, Assess planning, Infrastructure, Ownership, Value. Mirrors how a user thinks, not how Searchland engineers the product.

  5. 05

    CMS filters

Blog and guides filterable by category without page reload. Five items or five hundred, the filter responds in under 100ms with no visible flash or reorder.

  6. 06

    SEO structure

Canonical URLs, structured data, OG images: all CMS-driven and editable by the team. Blog posts generate Article structured data automatically. The team publishes and the SEO infrastructure updates without a single developer touch.

What changed.

The Searchland site was handed over three years ago. The team has been publishing content every week since: blog posts, new feature pages, guides, webinars, success stories, customer logos. The CMS has absorbed all of it without a structural change, without a developer call, and without a rebuild.

The organic traffic compounds with every piece of content the team publishes. A blog post from 18 months ago drives traffic to a feature page that didn't rank on its own. The internal link architecture works exactly as designed: silently, automatically, continuously.

The CMS was built three years ago and we have never had to call a developer to fix the architecture. We publish, it works, it ranks. That is exactly what we needed.
